Advancing to the next level of dental care

From preventive care visits to more advanced treatments that restore health and function to your smile, new dental technologies have truly transformed the way we are able to take care of your oral health. We are equipped with the following technologies (among others), which help us better diagnose, plan, and deliver your dental care:

  • Advanced dental imaging technologies, including cone beam CT scans (CBCTs) and digital dental impressions take more precise images of your mouth than traditional imaging technologies. CBCT scans provide us with 3D images of your bone, teeth, nerves, soft tissues, and sinus cavities that we use for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning, while digital impressions provide a more precise mold of your mouth than traditional putties that can be uncomfortable for you as a patient.
  • Velscope® is a small hand-held device that we use to detect oral cancer and other abnormalities in your soft tissues at an earlier stage
  • Laser dentistry, including LANAP® laser therapy to treat periodontal disease, helps us avoid using scalpels and sutures for a more comfortable patient experience, while also reducing bleeding and the chance of infection and stimulating new tissue regeneration
  • Intraoral cameras are small pen-shaped devices that we can use to take pictures of the interior of your mouth so you can see the structures we are talking about when planning your care
  • Plasma rich growth factors and bone morphogenetic protein treatments help jumpstart the healing process and accelerate tissue regeneration, healing, and repair
  • For many patients, the administration of local anesthesia can be an uncomfortable and anxiety-provoking process; with the Wand® computerized anesthesia delivery system, anesthesia is delivered through a controlled dosing system that is pain-free for patients

More than just flashy instruments, these dental technologies help us deliver a higher standard of dental care that we believe every patient should benefit from. Our state-of-the-art care techniques enable us to provide treatments that are more personalized, precise, comfortable, and safe, with faster recovery times and more patient involvement in decisions related to their care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Advanced Technology

What is a dental CT scan? How does it help with dental care?

A dental CT scan is like having a futuristic X-ray machine that provides detailed, 3D images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. At Dr. Claire Cho’s Claire Cho DDS in Aliso Viejo, California, this advanced imaging technology is used to plan dental implants, assess bone health, and diagnose complex issues. It ensures precision and accuracy, making your treatment both safer and more effective.

How does an intraoral camera make dental visits better?

An intraoral camera is a tiny, camera-equipped wand that captures high-resolution images of your teeth and gums. Think of it as a mini tour guide for your mouth! Dr. Claire Cho and her team use these images to explain your treatment options clearly and involve you in the decision-making. With this tech, no more guessing about what’s happening in your mouth, as you can see it for yourself!

What is The Wand? Does it really make anesthesia pain-free?

Absolutely! The Wand is a computerized anesthesia system that delivers numbing medication in a slow, steady, and controlled manner. Unlike traditional methods, it is designed to be more comfortable and less intimidating. Patients at Dr. Claire Cho’s office often comment on how they didn’t even feel the injection, making their experience much more pleasant.

What does the Velscope do during an oral cancer screening?

The Velscope is a handheld device that helps detect abnormalities in your oral tissues under a special light. It can reveal changes or irregularities in your mouth that might not be visible to the naked eye. Dr. Claire Cho uses this cutting-edge tool to catch potential issues early, prioritizing your oral health and peace of mind.

How does laser dentistry work? Does it hurt?

Laser dentistry uses focused beams of light to perform precise and minimally invasive treatments, such as gum contouring or cavity removal. These procedures typically involve less pain, reduced swelling, and faster healing times compared to traditional methods. Many of Dr. Cho’s patients find laser treatments surprisingly comfortable and are thrilled with the results!
